The River Rawthey is currently in moderate condition due to diffuse pollution. We will work with farmers and landowners to create buffer strips by fencing in river banks, excluding stock and allowing the natural regeneration of habitat, and planting trees. We will also carry out banking revetment repair work to minimise erosion and sedimentation. 2000 metres of buffer strips will be established and they will be up to 10 metres wide on demonstration sites.
