The Amerongse Bovenpolder project aims to improve biodiversity, function as a green corridor, maintain and improve landscape, and to improve conditions for recreation and cultural-historical values. The work here involved the creation of a 1 ha. swamp, 6,3 ha. of fish spawning area and a 6km long seepage gully (yet to be constructed). The polder has been previously used as a landfill, for sand excavation, and tabacco cultivation.
