|Project summary=Aim of the project
The aim of the project is a restoration of the possibility of free migration of fish and other aquatic organisms down and up the river Wisłoka and its tributaries, with the simultaneous maintenance of the stability of water intake and other elements of the infrastructure. The strategic aim of the project is an improvement of the ecological state of the Wisłoka water according to the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. This is one of the statutory duties of the Regional Water Management Board in Cracow and is an element of the Plan of the water management in the area of the upper Vistula basin.

Origin of the project
One of the characters of the natural river environment is a patency of the watercourse, it means lack of the barriers preventing the migration of fish and aquatic organisms. Fish in particular year seasons and life periods migrate along the river in search of food, appropriate shelters and places for spawning. Partition of the river with weir or other artificial barrier disturbs these processes what negatively affects number and condition of fish, and in extreme cases when access to spawning areas situated upstream is cut off, can lead to extinction of the whole populations.

The construction of damming buildings and regulation works carried out in riverbeds in the second half of the XX century lead to vanishing of the specific habitats necessary for spawning, spawn incubation, fry growth and also feeding and wintering of adult organisms. It finally resulted in the extinction of sturgeon, salmon, sea trout and vimba whereas the populations of other fish species requiring shorter, one-environment migration were heavily cut down. For this reason it is necessary to restore the patency of the flow what in practice means the necessity of removal or modernization of the weirs in a such way that they don’t cause an obstacle for aquatic organisms.

Planned actions
Some of these building have fish passes but they don’t ensure possibility of migration of different fish species in various age both in high and low water levels. Hence necessity of their modernization.
The project includes the following ventures:

Dębica (km 56+180 river Wisłoka) – modernization of existing chamber fish pass with a building of stone ramp at the dam;

Mokrzec (km 69+720 river Wisłoka) – building of bypass;

|Project summary=River valleys have been transformed, built up and partitioned for decades. This led to
a disruption in water management – an increased risk of flooding and drought. The degradation of valleys and riverbeds has caused a reduction in the population or even total extinction of many species of aquatic organisms. Fifteen of the twenty-one fish species living in Biała Tarnowska need access to stony or gravelly ground to live. Riverbeds of this type are found in the upper part of the drainage basin, but access to them is blocked by numerous weirs and dams located along the river. In some cases, they will improve the functioning of water intakes. The planned activities will improve the natural and landscape values of the Biała Valley and will positively influence the development of tourism and fishing.

The liquidation or modernization of these obstacles and the renaturalization of the riverbed fragments will not only create better living conditions and migration of fish but will also increase the flood safety of residents.

The project covers the following municipalities: Uście Gorlickie, Grybów, Bobowa and Ciężkowice. It is a continuation of earlier activities leading to an increase in the biodiversity of the river valley by restoring the habitats of native species of plants and animals and creating favorable conditions for their living and free movement.

PROJECT GOALS
1. Reconstruction of 15 barrages and weirs in such a way as to enable fish migration while guaranteeing
the safety of water intakes and bridges during highand low water levels. This will allow two-way fish
migration along the entire length of the river.
2. Creation of a erodible corridor of river migration, which means enabling the river on several sections to
meander freely and launch natural erosion processes in the river, and debris transportation. As a result,
erosion of the bottom will decrease, and the condition of the riverbed and habitats of living organisms will
improve. Natural retention will also increase and this will improve the flood safety for residents.

Dębica (km 56+180 river Wisłoka) – modernization of existing chamber fish pass with a building of stone ramp at the dam;

Bobowa (km 58+700 Biala river). New construction finished in 2018. In upstream circa 150 m above existing weir fish ramp was built. Below was 70 m length pool and downstream rebuilded old weir with stilling basin. The crest was slightly forged and in the middle triangle overflow was cuted. A triangular spillway was also cut out in end sill of countersill. The structure was supported by loose riprap and a row of sandstone boulders. The soil that had been deposited over the years under the bridge message was removed. The riverbed widened. The conditions for the flow of great waters have improved.

Oxbows in Poland Project: Revitalization, biodiversity protection and usage of the Vistula River oxbows; preventing degradation of Upper Vistula River Valley as an ecological corridor. Regulation carried out between wars and in 60s of the 20th century made the Upper Vistula River Valley lose its natural "wild" character. The river bed was straighten out, meanders were crossed by levees. Industry and agriculture development and water pollution resulting from it as well as sewage.
In frames of the project we taked comprehensive actions that was contribute to renovation and maintainance of oxbows values and strengthen their functions.

We taked investment, legal, educational, information and promotion actions. The main project goals was: maintainance and increase In biodiversity of the Vistula oxbows popularization of oxbows natural values and the idea of their protection increase of interests in the Vistula River valley as a recreation place , "human coming back to the Vistula River, the Vistula River promotion as an important natural refuge and ecological corridor , increase in public awareness of necessity of its protection gaining experience on renovation and revitalization of oxbows The project is going to be realized on the part of Vistula River that flows through Małopolska.
The project was implemented in cooperation with Institute for Nature Conservation of Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków.
INC tasks will be as fallows: supervision on the oxbows revitalization actions and some of works connected with detailed nature inventory of the Vistula River Valley.
